About OTC Medicines and Remedies
This collection gathers over-the-counter medicines and remedies that can be bought without a prescription, including pain relievers, antacids, allergy products, topical ointments and similar household items. It sits within our vitamins and over-the-counter section next to Vitamins & Supplements, and includes products from Sunset and Systagenix.
Two attributes do most of the sorting. Strength is the amount of active ingredient per tablet, capsule, dose or gram, and it is printed in the Drug Facts panel. Two products with the same active ingredient can come in regular and extra strength, or in adult and children's formulations, so read strength carefully rather than relying on the product name. Count is the number of tablets, capsules or packets in the bottle or box, and larger counts are listed as separate items.
Always follow the directions and warnings on the Drug Facts label, and check with your prescriber or pharmacist if you take other medicines or have questions about whether a product is appropriate for you.
For repeat orders, the REF or item number on your package identifies the exact strength, form and count. Using it avoids mixing up similar packaging across strengths.
